Books 2a

A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian by Marina Lewycka
So this is another one of those books that you see a lot of people reading, and it has not only an intriguing title but also a fairly compelling cover blurb. And in truth it starts off as both a touching and funny book. However somewhere around the middle the humour fades away somewhat as the situation becomes both more serious and the characters more pitiful. Maybe I expected too much, but once again I was disappointed by the quality of the second half of a novel, more than by the premise under which it opened.
